Iolani Palace

Iolani Palace was the official home of Hawaiian Royalty. It was built in 1882. The contractors did such a great job they got the job of building the first hotel on the island.
I highly recommend the audio tour of this place, though it is not a place for kids. Get there early and spend time in the basement which is not part of the audio tour, but is very interesting.

If this tree could talk...

Shoe covers required

The Blue Room was used for informal gatherings

Dining Room

The palace had indoor plumbing. Flush chain
is hanging on the left.

The Throne Room

2nd floor domed ceiling

The King's Bedchamber

The vase in the left corner was a gift. Only 4
of them still exist - in the world!

The Library

All the modern technology.

The Music Room

The entire royal family was musical, writing
music and lyrics.

The Queen's Bedchamber

She gets a shower, not just a bath.

The Queen's Quilt. Made by her and her 2 ladies
in waiting imprisoned with her for 8 months
while her kingdom was stolen by an American
and European business coalition.

So the last King was a Mason.
Interesting.
