DO NOT SHARE WITH ANYONE PLEASE!
Taos is about a 2 hour drive from Santa Fe. It's a bit artsy too, but far smaller and less sophisticated that Santa Fe. Our room at the San Pueblo Lodge was fantastic though. We walked to a restaurant with live music, Brett Barry "upbeat folk/bluegrass". Good music and good food and I had a cocktail called a Woo Woo. Before leaving town the next day we visited the Millicent Rogers Museum. Millicent was of the Rockefeller and raised as something of a spoiled rich kid. She had rheumatic fever as a child and had to stay in bed a lot. Ultimately it weakened her heart. She married several times. While living in CA she came with the Gaynors (Mitzi Gaynor) to visit Taos, loved it, and never left. She collected the hand created arts of the locals and designed jewelry using a lot of turquoise.

Notice the fireplace in the corner. They even provide the firewood.

Sam and Millicent. She is wearing a Charles James linen blouse, Russian brooch
Native American turquoise and silver bracelets, and Oaxacan necklace and
pearl earrings. This photo appeared in Harper's Bazaar Magazine in 1948.
Navajo weaving circa 1900.

Ths room is filled with the pottery of Maria Montoya. It is
truely amazing. I particularly like the black on black pieces.

Millicent designed some of this jewelry.
Ketohs. Native American. One side is beautiful, the other is
leather. It protects the wrist from the snap of the string of
the bow.

Looking out the back window of the museum. The building
was built as a private residence by friends of Millicent's.
However, the woman of the couple did not like the Taos area
and left, so the man donated the house for the museum.
