Visited the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Hermann Park, and drove through the beautiful campus of Rice University which will host its 104th Commencement this weekend. Dinner with friends Ed and Deidre Mears whom we have not seen in almost 14 years and met their lovely daughters Samantha (2nd grade) and Lilly (pre-k and full of a lot of energy).

Chandelier in the MFAH cafe.

The creative angle. :-)

"Eva" and "Adamo" Plate. Designed in 1954 by Italian Piero Fornasetti.

When you are finished with your chair just hang it on the wall.

The red and yellow  feathers are from the Scarlet Macaw.
Blue feathers from the Blue and Yellow Macaw.
Black feathers from a Razor-billed Curasow and white
from an Egret.
The artist is Kcho, a contemporary Cuban artist. He "engages with
politics and living conditions playing with the notion of a
socialist utopia in a communist country."
(quoted from RO Gallery web site. )

Wish I had an artist statement on this one.
Do not touch the art sir.

This is for the next photo.

A very small but fascinating piece. Read the photo plat above.
Like something from the Twilight Zone.

Lyn Houk has been a docent here for 19 years. She gave a
wonderful "Highlights" tour.
Our little group had quite a conversation about this piece. You
can't really see what the young girl is doing, though we speculated
she is reading a letter. Lyn said many of the children's groups
say she is diapering a baby. Hmmmm.
The details is so fine you can almost count the hairs on her head.
Poor thing has hair that goes fuzzy in Houston humidity. I feel your pain.
Hercules wears a lion skin, holds Atlas' load for awhile and
carries a large club.

The way I feel when I can take off my bra and shoes!
Tiffany Window. Commissioned for a residential property
and then purchased by the museum when the building was being constructed.

I know it's "fine art" but I think it would be a great rack for
necklaces.
Dragonfly lamp by Tiffany Studios.

"Rainy Midnight" by Childe Hassam
Sam said this one should be called "Dude and dog". It's actually
George Thomas John Nugent by Gilbert Stuart.
