We had hoped to camp overnight at Atlanta SP for a couple of nights this week, then the weather forecast became thunderstorms all day tomorrow. So we decided we would visit the park this afternoon and stay overnight in Texarkana, then drive on to Little Rock tomorrow and visit the Bill Clinton Presidential museum, followed by going on to the Queen Wilhelmina SP in Arkansas for a night. Unfortunately we got as far as Sulphur Springs, 30 minutes from home, and discovered we left Sam's wallet at home; no driver's license so don't want to leave the state.  Good to be flexible. We drove on to Atlanta SP and spent about 1.5 hours. It is a hidden gem of the Texas State Parks; quiet, peaceful views. Several hiking trails. Lots of tall trees and at this time of year, the dogwoods and wildflowers are in bloom. We are in a Townehome Suites in Texarkana for at least one night.
One last note: I recently ran across the little tabletop sized tripod Sam gave me a few years ago. You'll start seeing some experimental photos, like the ground level shot of little yellow flowers today.

Lake Wright Patman is managed by the Corps of Engineers instead of the SP.

That's my man.

The tree was just beautiful so I set up my chair under it for awhile.

Ground level shot of pretty little wildflowers.

My imagination sees a bug here in this log. Cricket? Cockroach? Praying mantis?

The light "color" on the tree trunk is the sun dancing on the trunk through the leaves.

Dogwoods in full bloom

2014-15 the lake was so far above level for 6 months that this area was under water. The trees became diseased so the Corps has been clear cutting and replanting.

Aesculus pavia, commonly called red buckeye

He had chocolate so I accepted a ride. He seems harmless.
