Visited the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum near Baylor University campus. Stephen F Austin hired the first Texas Rangers to provide protection for the settlers of Tejas from Indian and Mexican attacks. They were known to be great horsemen and fast with a rifle or handgun. Several of the earliest ones were also Land Surveyors, which is why people came to Tejas - land. It wasn't until the late 1800's that it became an honorable, organized law enforcement organization. Today they use modern technology as a top notch criminal investigation team. Recently I attended a lunch program where the Texas Ranger based in Greenville was the guest speaker. She appears to be one of only 3 active female Rangers. Much of the building is given to memorabilia of specific rangers of which I did not take photographs.

The Colt Revolver that could shoot 5 shots without a reload tipped the battles with Indians in favor of the Rangers.

This group works our region of Texas.

Totally cool chair!

They are building a display on Texas Rangers in pop culture.
