Early Goddard Rocket

Dr. Goddard began launching rockets on the family farm outside Auburn, Massachusetts. It was not long before he was under scrutiny for setting the countryside ablaze and frightening neighbors. The negative press brought him to the attention of Charles Lindberg. With funding from Lindbergh and others Dr. Goddard and his wife, Esther relocated to New Mexico.

Dr. Goddard made significant progress during his twelve years in Roswell. In all there were fifty six test flights. Werner von Braun said it was one of the most amazing development programs in the history of technology.
