Plainview with a stop in Cisco - Part 1

Early August is hot in Texas so we decided to go where it is even hotter - west Texas. We stopped in Cisco to look at an old Hilton Hotel that has been converted to apartments that can be rented by folks who do not make a lot of money. We had been to Cisco a few years ago (see the previous blog post) but found it to have some new businesses so maybe they are experiencing a bit of a revival.
We went on to Plainview, the home of Jimmy Dean, and Wayland Baptist University. We toured another old Hilton converted to apartments by the same company. To live there you must have a minimum income of twice the monthly rent, which is based on the number of occupants, and a maximum yearly amount. Those numbers are calculated using the median county income as a benchmark.

manager at the Cisco property.

I could live here. There's a fitness room and this lovely lobby.

Sam and Earl. Which one is nuttier?

I like cows and this one is particularly
attractive. That 8-story building in the
background is the old Hilton that is now
apartments.

This piece of art hung in the lobby of the original hotel in 1929.

The apartments are very nice.

The hotel's ballroom. Unfortunately, it is not allowed to be rented
and used at this time.
