Dealing with the Texas heat at Sulphur Springs Camp

In the middle of the first week of August, we were having the usual triple-digit heat. Since our local swimming pools were already closed mid-week we took a short trip to Bend, TX to visit the private Sulphur Springs Camp. It is only a 45-minute drive from us and includes a sulfur spring-fed pool and 3 miles along the Colorado River. There is an area for RV camping but I cannot imagine getting one down and back up the steep access road that is not paved. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and a couple of dips in the pool. Unfortunately, before we left the horseflies started biting and we had several days of recovery from those.
