Goliad

A visit to Goliad State Park and Historic Site. When the decision was made to restore the mission an architect was hired and a team went about educating themselves on the original construction materials used. A team of CCC workers used the caretaker's cottage as "practice". Thus the visitor's center in the old custodian's cottage has 8 different door styles and multiple types of hasps, windows, and hewn wood.

Mission Espiritu Santo was the first great cattle ranch. This
mission owned a 1.5-million acre area between the San Antonio
and Guadalupe Rivers, nearly the size of Delaware.

What a cool tree!

Gophers are busy at the state park.

The Presidio de Nuestra Senor de Loreto de La Bahia.
Roughly: the fort by the bay. This presidio and mission were originally
at Matagorda Bay and were moved twice inland.
