Tracy's volunteer trip to Houston/Pearland.

In January I joined with a team of volunteers from Faith Community Church in South Boston, VA, where my cousin is the pastor, for a trip to the Houston area to help rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Harvey. We worked under the leadership of Samaritan's Purse, checking in for orientation on Sunday evening and finishing after work on Friday. Our day started at 6:00am with making your sack lunch for the day, eating a hearty breakfast, singing and having a devotional time together, and ended with a hearty dinner, sharing time, and lights out at 10:00pm. Most of us were in bed well before 10:00 since we were tired.

Cousin Dane on the left. This was taken in the common area of the trailer. Our first full day there was "moving day" as SP and Cross Point Church had partnered to build a large building to serve as SP's headquarters for 2 more years. We moved all of the dormitory items (beds, mattresses, etc.) and office equipment, then all their tables, chairs, and supplies from the common building.

My personal space during the week after moving
into the new building. This building will be a
gymnasium for the church so it's pretty basic.

By day 3 of labeling our lunches, we got creative.

Edging with primer. Justin regularly thanked me
for dusting the floor with my jeans.

20-foot long horse trailers are each outfitted with all the equipment
we needed for building a house.

Inside our work trailer. When all is loaded there is a long piece
of equipment that lies in the center walk space.
