Annual trip to Colorado Part 3. Slaton, TX and Cadillac Ranch

Slaton Bakery began in 1923 and is known for its vanilla wafers. Cadillac Ranch is just west of Amarillo and is a cheesy tourist stop. There are 10 Cadillacs buried nose end down show the progression of the tail fins as they got larger on each new model.

The Coca-Cola syrup for the old soda fountain.

80 quart Hobart mixer built in 1947.
Used daily since 2003.
Shortening used to be delivered by
the shortening company in 110 lb cans.
For a while, the cans were returned for
reuse. When that stopped the bakery began
to sell them to the public for reuse.
First hamburger and hot dog bun
slicer used in Texas.

I'm headed out to tag a Cadillac.
