July 15-17 Fort Davis, Davis Mountains State Park, Indian Lodge

The preferred destination in the summer as the Davis Mountains are a little more than 5,000 feet above sea level. Beautiful and cool at night, with reasonable temperature for hiking and swimming during the day. Indian Lodge, a CCC building built in the 1930s has just been renovated.

The Prussian influence is evident in our country's earliest
dress military uniforms.

How the heck did they climb up there in those skirts.

Room 321. Spacious and facing due East. Great for us
early risers.
Sunrise over the Davis Mountains.

The swallows loved the covered patio.

The parents did their best to keep these 3 fed in spite of
workmen and other people on the patio.

These mountains arise from volcanic lava flow.

The second morning I took a hike up one of the trails. It's
rugged and not for sissies.
