July 12-17, Fort Stockton

Brings back memories. This was the
first play I was in way back in 7th grade.

The Zero Stone was the first waymarker for the surveying of all of Texas west of
this point. Regretfully the stone was moved from its original location
for "protection purposes".

You're taking a quiet tour and no one else is on this floor.
Then you step around the corner into this room and this
guy is there. Makes you jump out of your skin.

Built for Fort Stockton in the 1880's. Later it was a store and then
a post office. Now it is owned by Mesa Verde Vineyards
and we enjoyed some wine tasting.

Sam and Paisano Pete.

My turn with Paisano.

Annie Riggs bought the hotel after divorcing her second husband
and was the owner/operator of this hotel for about 30 years.

Clearly she ran a respectable establishment.

Sadly Comanche Springs is dry. Clayton Williams has diverted
all the water to his private land use.
