Wimberly Glass Works

Stopped in Wimberly on the way home from San Marcos to visit this glass blowing business. They have gallery seating in the workshop so they can demonstrate how an object is made. Each item takes careful attention and time and sometimes two sets of hands to get it right. We came in after the initial attachment of the first glass dip but the rest of the process was fascinating. Glad it wasn't the middle of the summer in there though. These photos were taken with my iPhone instead of my nice Canon camera so are not quite the quality I prefer.

Yikes!

Two people required for this step.

He swings the vase back and forth to get the
hot glass to elongate.

The finished product. Now it just has to
cool down slowly in a special container.

Not what he was making today. This is one of
his commissioned pieces.
