Natchitoches (pronounced Nack-a-tish), LA

Beginning our plan to travel the entire El Camino Real (the Royal Road) aka Road to San Antonio, we begin in Natchitoches, LA. They were getting ready for a family friendly Mardi Gras parade. The city looks very much like a mini-New Orleans. There's a nice river front park (named Beau Jardin), shops and restaurants along front street, and a colorful flavor.
Two of my favorite movies were filmed here. Steel Magnolias and The Man in the Moon. If you want to do the drive you can visit all the sites used in Steel Magnolias. 30th anniversary year, which makes me feel so old to think about.

We wanted to buy a copy of this poster but did
not find one anywhere else even on display. This
is the city's visitor's center.

Roque House. circa 1797. Built by a freed black
slave named Yves, but called Pascal.
