Mission Tejas State Park

Continuing our travels on SH121 aka El Camino Real we visited Mission Tejas SP.

An original cabin, though no on its original site.
Joseph Rice and his wife built it and "snaked" it
to a location on the river. It became a Way Station on
the El Camino Real.

I sure wanted to see what CCC bath tubs were like, but
the trails were closed due to prescribed burns.

Beautiful black walnut tree.

Replica of the old mission.

Best site in the park.

.
New headquarters and educational building almost complete.
The large tanks will capture rain water and provide non-potable
water for the bathrooms.

The treliss covering guides the rain water into the tanks.
