Easter Weekend finds us staying in the Amwell Guest House in Hamilton, TX; the northwest area of the Hill Country of Texas. 20 miles up the road is Hico, TX where we spent part of the day visiting the Billy the Kid Museum talking with the director, Sue Land. Some nice shops in old downtown and had lunch at the newly opened Midland Hotel restaurant. Visited the little town of Evant later in the day, which is about 16 miles south of Hamilton.
Stopped in Abbott on the way down the road to see this church.

After Willie Nelson and his 3rd (4th?) wife settled into Abbott
they found out the church was in dire financial need; so he bought it.
Services are the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month and, reportedly,
when Willie is in town he attends.

Just one of Texas' many old travel crossings that has gone away.

In Hico, TX. The story is Billy did not die in New Mexico and
went on to live a quiet life under a different name, ultimately dying here.

This photo is in the Midland Hotel Restaurant. The photo is of
Joaquin Jackson, Texas Ranger. I met him some years ago at
a TLA conference after he had written his first memoir., which I
thoroughly enjoyed. He has passed on now.

An unusual gazebo, with a metal roof, in Hico.

Got an abandoned silo on your town? Turn it into a climbing gym.

Crossing a small portion of the Bosque River.

Wiseman House Chocolates. I bought a variety of truffles. My favorite
is Wild Woman. Dark chocolate with a dark chocolate ganache center

Passing through Live Oak Cemetery between Hamilton and Evant came
across this little guy.

Can you find the hidden road runner?

If little statues will get you into Heaven this person is there.

Not really much else to see in Evant.
