This is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed and where the first Republic of Texas Constitution was drafted and signed. All done is less than 16 days. Regretfully, the original town no longer exists since the railroad passed it by.

Mr. Childress wrote the first draft of the Republic of Texas Constitution.
